Surfing in Laamu
The Maverick is within paddling distance of one of the Maldives top surf breaks; Sarongs and 5 minute dhoni from Machines. It is also within 25 minutes by boat of many other surf points (7+) - we have a speed boat and a dhoni to make sure you can get to the best swells!

Our surf guides know where and when to catch the best waves, and our surf breaks are never crowded.
We have a good selection of boards for hire.
You can learn to surf with us. We have beginner waves wrapping round both Sarongs and Machines and a very consistent gentle rolling break onto a sandy bottom at Maabaidhoo a few minutes away. We have foam boards for hire, so you do not need to bring your own.
Sarongs
A perfect, hollow right-hander breaking right in front of the resort.
This ‘perfect right’ is often seen as a favourite wave on a Maldives surf trip.
Called Bedhuge by locals, you can paddle out to enjoy the wave directly from our beach.
Machines
A fast, winding hollow right, best on an incoming tide or it can be too shallow.
A really consistent photographic wave breaking at Maabbaidhoo, a five minute dhoni ride away.
Ying Yangs
This right hander is the most powerful wave in Laamu Attol. It is 20 minutes by speed boat away from the Maverick. If the waves on our doorstep aren’t working there will be waves at Ying Yangs.
